When Nathaniel Nathan came out, he saw Jack Judd at the head of the group. Behind him were a number of arrogant thugs—the kind who acted tough in front of ordinary people but were a far cry from actual drug dealers. He pretty much guessed what was going on.
He single-handedly blocked their path. Jack Judd was about to start cursing at the person in his way, but the moment he saw who it was, his legs started trembling in fear.
With a fawning expression, Jack Judd said, "Sir, did you hear Sister-in-law was in trouble, so you rushed over to save her?"
Before Nathaniel Nathan could speak, Jack Judd added, "With you here to save Sister-in-law, I can rest easy. That damn bitch, she’s really blind, daring to bully Sister-in-law!"

Nathaniel Nathan seized on the key part of his words. "Bitch?"
Jack Judd said quickly, "Yeah, as soon as Sister-in-law got here, she was bullied by some bitch. Then today, that same bitch dragged her into a stone gambling match where the loser had to eat the leftover stones. That bitch has a really tough guy with her, and I was afraid Sister-in-law would be at a disadvantage, so I went to get some guys to help."
Nathaniel Nathan’s face instantly darkened. He said in a low voice, "Disband your men on the spot."
He turned and walked away as soon as he finished speaking. Jack Judd was stunned for a moment, but he didn’t dare disobey. He quickly disbanded the entire group of thugs he had brought with him.
Because of the commotion Jack Judd had caused, Nathaniel Nathan now had a perfectly valid reason to stay behind and investigate the remaining drug trafficking forces.
Vera Xavier had no idea about Nathaniel Nathan’s arrangements. She had already walked over to Aaron Cheney and was pinching the pressure point below his nose. When he came to, he said in a daze, "Third Sister-in-law, are you okay? Why is there so much blood on your face! Are you hurt?"
Vera Xavier quickly said, "I’m not hurt. This blood belongs to someone else. We’ve been saved."
Only then did Aaron Cheney let out a huge sigh of relief. With tears in his eyes, he said to her, "Third Sister-in-law, you risked your life to save me today. From now on, my life is yours!"
Vera Xavier was a bit speechless. She cleared her throat and said, "You should probably save that life of yours for your future wife. I don’t want it."
Aaron Cheney realized he had said something foolish and scratched his head in embarrassment.
Seeing he was fine, and feeling uncomfortable with her face still covered in blood, Vera Xavier went to the restroom behind the office, turned on the tap, and washed the blood from her face.
After she was done, she wiped the water from her face in front of the mirror and let out a small sigh of relief.
What happened today had been truly terrifying; she’d had a brush with death.
When she came out after washing her face, Alistair Forrest was standing at the door, his eyes practically sparkling with hearts. "Honey, you truly astound me! So loyal, so righteous, so responsible! If you hadn’t lured that guy out today, we might all be dead. So you basically saved my life today, and a debt for saving a life must be..."
Vera Xavier cleared her throat, cutting him off. "Are you still buying that jade of mine?"
"Of course!" Alistair Forrest said with absolute certainty. "Name your price. I’ll take all of it!"
Vera Xavier nodded. "Then let’s go out and discuss the price!"
Alistair Forrest nodded. When they came out, Susan Caldwell had already finished packing up the stones they had cut open and was getting ready to leave.
